Submitting Photos – Whether you’re a new model just starting out, or even a model with experience who is looking to expand your representation to bigger markets, these five quick tips will help you get your photos right the first time and improve your chances of getting signed to an agency and getting booked for modelling jobs.

Note: You may already know that most applications get no response ( except an auto acknowledgement email ). In most cases, this is not because of a lack of potential as a talent. Modelling agency usually doesn’t respond if the application does not meet their criteria.

Tips before submitting your photos to modelling agency / Coordinators.

1. Before sending your photos to multiple modelling agencies, check to see how they want photos submitted. Most of them only accept photos by email. Not on other social media.

2. Be sure to only send your photos to a modelling agency that accepts the type of model you are. For eg: If they only have openings for plus-size models, and you are not plus-size, you are just wasting the agency’s and your time. You also run the risk of developing a reputation for being unattentive.

3. When sending your photos by email be sure to include all of this information in your email. If you are emailing your photos it is important to have this information Add Details – Your Name, Age, Height, Measurements (bust, waist, and hips for women, and waist and jacket size for men), Current Location, Contact Information (phone numbers, email address), Citizenship (where your passport was issued) & Agencies currently representing you, if any.

4. If you are sending your photos by email, be sure they are not too large. 1MB per photo should be the maximum, 500 KB is better. If your photos are too large, they can take too long to download and your email could end up being deleted before your photos are reviewed. Don’t send your photos in a zip file and don’t include your personal website. Agents/modelling agency will probably not open the file or click the link due to security issues with linking and compressing files.
5. After you’ve taken the time to submit your photos and you’ve paid attention to every detail. Check your mailbox regularly to make sure it’s not full. Also, check your email spam and junk folders regularly for emails that may have automatically been routed there.
6. Never Submit Nude Photos, agents and coordinators do not want to see you naked, ever. Even photos that suggest nudity are off the table. Do not send such photos to anyone that may risk you at times. So make sure of this.
7. Only You in the Photos make sure you’re the only person in the photos you submit. Agents and scouts want to see you and only you. You need to be a clean slate that they can dress and portray to tell a story and sell a product or service.

Modelling WorkshopHaving an experienced agent or professional modelling agency do the work for you is always the best approach. However, if you want to do it yourself, it’s important to do it properly. Many new models don’t realize that it’s not only the photos that agencies are looking at. It is also how you present your photos to them that matters. Join Modelling Workshop

First Impressions Are Important

In the modelling industry, your photos are everything, and first impressions are equally as important. Modelling agencies receive thousands of photos every week and agents will make their decision whether or not to represent you within a matter of seconds. Therefore, it’s important to always look your best (and appropriate) even in simple snapshots. Don’t get passed over simply because you forgot to include your contact information and they had no way to reach you. Please share any experience you have, other agencies that you are with, and anything else you’d like us to know in the comments field. Please register your profile here.
